to be pinned or not to be pinned?

this is a quilt booklet i found and then won/purchased on Ebay all because of the wonders of Pintrest....as i repinned an antique quilt pin, curious to find where it came from i was brought to the Ebay site and did a little browsing of mine own, came across what looks to be a great Crib Quilts book of a folk art/antique nature, put my bid in and won, see the wonders of Pintrest.....it brings us to all sorts of places on the internet, that maybe we haven't or don't go to that often....
i see Pintrest as a way to share our likes, recipes, jokes, wants with others....i look at my pinboards as my quilt books, recipe file, shopping/todo list and sometimes just because something speaks to me, i enjoy learning through others pins about history, art, travels, antiques, cooking, health and all sorts of needlework.....
i do pin what inspires me but not for the purpose of copying and i don't believe that is what is driving most pinners out there, i have purchased dolls, books, quilts, fabric and more because of seeing them on Pintrest....i have read a few blogs questioning the pinning of their photos and not being given credit, please give credit where credit is due and i can understand their concerns, personally i don't mind being pinned from my blog or website, that means you like what you see, want to share, please do so  giving credit me as the designer or whomever is.....
now if you don't want photos pinned from your blog here is a link to check out....  http://makingamark.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/pintrest-how-to-prevent-your-blogger.html
if you haven't been on the Pintrest site yet you may click on my Pintrest button to get an idea of what it's all about......Happy Pinning

patchwork.....

this is how my patchwork pieces ended up at the end of the day, notice how uneven my borders are, just sew whatever together then will clean up my edges when finished....don't like to box myself into having to stay within certain measurements, like a little growing room.....received The Help from Netflix will watch it tonight while stitching the wool appliques down.....
enjoy your saturday night whether quiet or noisy.....

itty bitty hats.....

itty bitty hats by susan b. anderson is the name of the book i use when i want to knit the most adorable baby hats, it's a few years old but i've still seen it at Barnes & Noble....
p.s. i did cutting last night for an all day sew in but this is how my days have been going, not that i'm complaining.....
woke, did my usual morning feedings and cleanup, then off to drop off my daughter's cat back at her house, he's been staying with us for a while, arrive, he's so excited to be home, Lucy's just been fed, phone rings i take her so mommy can talk....she coos for awhile, then fusses a little, falls asleep in my arms and that's where i stay till she awakes....now it's mid afternoon and i'm just getting back home.....
babies are so distracting, i tell you, what's a grandma to do?

ready to go out....

doesn't Lucy look adorable in her flower hat grandma knitted her, we're all taking mommy to her checkup with the doctor....doctor said mommy's healing on schedule and baby's sweet as can be....then we went to Target which Lucy did not enjoy, i said "just wait Lucy soon it will be one of your favorite places....
off to do some cutting, think tomorrow maybe a sewing day....

guess what....

you guessed it, i locked my keys in my car, with a cart full of pet food, cleaning supplies and other much needed items from Walmart.....what to do?  hubby's out of town, do have a AAA card, but thought we really don't live that far.....so i took the cart back inside and started my hike home, the weather was warm & sunny, much too warm for my layers on, so i'm stripping as i'm walking, finally get home hot and exhausted, guzzle some water, grab the extra keys and drive back in a different car, load the groceries, drive home, unload, change clothes and hike back to get the original car, walk right past the car to the frozen yogurt shop and eat whatever calories i might have just walked off!!!  then drove to Sprouts to finish my shopping, home now, all unloaded and put away but i don't think i have the energy to walk to my sewing room, which is where i was supposed to be all day....try again tomorrow
p.s. i did look at my odometer on the drive back and it's 1.5 miles one way, pretty good hike today....

Lucy Midori Rose.....

my daughter over the years has had a few pre cancer cervical biopsies and leeps, causing scar tissue, not sure if she could get pregnant, she did, not sure if she could go full term, she did....
come to realize she has a "steel trap" for a cervix, wouldn't open....
always known possibly cesarean but was not an emergency so needed to try a vaginal birth first....
so after 12 hours of cervidial, then 18 hours of pitocin no dilatation, will be cesarean but not till am....then her water breaks, still no dilatation, then a pin hole size opening but all agreed probably nothing more, went home to shower....received text "i'm a 7" rush back, now all preparing for having a baby, get to nine....getting room set up
during this time she's beginning to get feverish, start her on antibiotics, then baby starts stressing, now off for cesarean....
at 5:47 Feb 10 Lucy was born weighing 8 lbs. 7 oz. and 20&1/4"
all are doing well and fever is finally down....
what a roller coaster ride that was, now off to the hospital for sweet new baby hugs& kisses....

a little patchwork....

it's a little after midnight, been a long day and no baby yet....maybe c section tomorrow or home to try again later, hope not the later after all she's been through already.....more waiting and worrying, after all she's my baby....in the meantime here's the finished little patchwork quilt, all you need to do is sew blocks together and add 1&1/2" yellow borders to right side, lower edge, quilt and bind, simple as that.....
hope you enjoyed your sew a long and little patchwork quilt....mine will be given away to one of you patchworkers out there, is it you?

a little patchwork....

a little patchwork....
day four (well really it's the evening of day three but on day four i'll be at the hospital with my daughter, she's being induced, so i'll be there anxiously awaiting Lucy Rose's arrival)....
four patch is made with 1&1/2" squares, add a piece 1&1/2" wide to top and bottom...next 1&1/4" wide pieces of yellow to left and right side and a 1&1/2" wide piece yellow to lower edge....now scrap a piece 1&1/2" wide and sew to right side, then 1&1/2" wide yellow to top....lastly 1&1/4" wide blue to left side....
now remember this is a primitive little quilt, so if your pieces end up in a different order, that's totally alright.....blocks all should be around 5&1/2" unfinished....
tomorrow we will put all the blocks together and it's truly a fun antique inspired little quilt....
till friday, enjoy....

a little patchwork....

a little patchwork.....
day three is so simple, cut eight light, four blue and four yellow 2 squares....make four 4 patches and sew together as shown, now this is the part that maybe difficult for some not as primitive a sewer as me, but you cut the block down to 5 & 1/2"  unevenly "a little of this side, a little more off that side" and you're done, see you tomorrow for the last block.....
enjoy

a little patchwork....

just a little patchwork sew a long.....
day one....
make three four patch blocks....
cut 1&1/4" squares for four patches. 2" squares for alternate blocks. and border with 1&1/2" wide strips of yellow....
that's easy, see you tomorrow....
