clothespins......

dusting my house, readying it for family brunch on Easter Sunday...... and thought i would share one of my favorite finds over the years, these folk art painted clothespins, bought them in this Ball jar for a couple dollars and just love to take them out from time to time to enjoy their whimsy.....

the winner is......

most of you like being on the darker, drab side of fabric choices but a few enjoy the brighter colors......Jill is one of those and the little bright, fun, Easter Egg colors quilt will be hopping it's way to her house soon.....

no quilting done this weekend, helped greg build a new set of back steps...... not to bad for a novice, they are even level.....i would have just eye balled it but they had to be close to perfect, guess i wouldn't want to roll down the steps!

drab or pretty......

are you one that gravitates towards the dark, drab, grungy colors when decorating, sewing and such...... LiKE Me!

or do you seem to collect the pretty, bright, sweet fabrics and such......

well i started by making the darker one, using my usual color choices, made even grungier with some tea staining but with Easter coming, thought i would also stitch one up using Easter Egg colors, quite sweet but not quite me....... so...... if you are more inclined to decorate with the pretty, brighter quilt then maybe i should just give it to you? which you? let me know and also make sure i have an email address to contact you for your home address.....

if you want to stitch one or two up of your own, i simply used 3 & 1/2" squares, sashing pieces 1 & 1/4" x 3 & 1/2", setting squares 1 & 1/4" ........

enjoy tomorrow is the First Day of SprinG!

a bit of this and that......

a friend was cleaning out her fabric stash and remembered how much I long for Roberta Horton's homespuns......
gave ALL of these to me..... I'm like a kid in a candy store!!!!

a few of my very all time favorites......

it's been so sunny and warm here in Poway California that Lucy has been delightfully splashing in her little pink pool......

and then I brought out the leftover plastic eggs from last Easter and Lucy found a candy bar, chapstick and money.....how fun is that!

also I tea dyed all my Roberta Horton's homespuns and starting making some red cross nine patches in quilt class yesterday......

this is my dreary picture for today......tax stuff, sorting, adding expenditures and invoices......been putting it off way too long, have to buckle down and finish this task today, definitely not my idea of fun......

gathering patches......

gather up your last thirty-five nine patch blocks......
add......
sashing strips 1&3/4" wide between blocks and rows..... not to complicate but to add a little primitive character, my row on the right side is a bit different, one piece of sashing between top & second block is only 1&1/2" wide.....added another row of patches to very top block, mostly has been chopped off but you can see a hint of it...... also the sashing strip between the fourth and fifth row was cut 2" wide......
the borders were cut 2&1/2" wide......

enjoy

p.s. added a little primitive applique to one of these gathering patches quilts and will be posting it as a primitive giveaway tomorrow......
