moody quilter....
oh yes, definitly so....usually always in the mood....
my mood dictates my color choices, block sizes, appliques in cotton or wool, etc.
took my husband to the airport today, now it's just me, fabric & my mood for a few days...
already have worked on blocks, tops and appliques for at least eight different projects today....my mood is energized and i haven't had one Red Bull!!!
when i can go without interuption there's no end to my creative mood....that's a good thing....

some ducks in the pond....
got about a dozen blocks done, changing the layout a little i think from Lori's Leftovers Quilt....you can see more four patches in the background laying on their background fabrics waiting to be cut...
i'm using 1/4" strips to make the four patch blocks, my finished block size will be 6".....
i like the way it's coming along....

a new project...
knitting....
can you believe it i had not one hand stitching project still in progress last night so i pulled out my knitting project for times just like this....making squares for a knitted patchwork quilt made one more last night whoo hoo....it's a slow going project, not a fast knitter....probably making more squares tonight unless i put together a new hand stitching project today....
i'll be in my sewing room most of the day as it is a rainy one...
enjoy your day cheri

getting my ducks in a row....
i have been totally inspired by Lori@humblequilts.blogspot.com...she made a quilt she called leftovers which i covert but i have to make my own & i'll enjoy doing it....started today with a few four patches, cut some background blocks, sewed a few more strips together for more patches and i'm excited to get some blocks together....now hopefully i can make enough blocks that my hubby can actually use it, that is the plan!
don't my ducks look cute!!!
i did work on other quilt projects too, busy, busy day....

coupons....
what does this picture have to do with coupons, nothing yet...
olivia & dominic from Mo. always come spend a few weeks at grandma's house & they NEED summer outfits, etc....received a Kohl's extra 30% off coupon and today also had earlybird specials..."greg i need to go today so i'll be saving us money" his response "the way to save money is not to spend it"
whatever, i know he's teasing me....
after clothes shopping we went to the rummage sale at Poway Park just down the street from us....they were cleaning out some of their museum items & because i had saved us so much at Kohl's, i could shop more!
most of these only $1 each, my day for bargain shopping....
and tomorrow we're headed to an artist's craft market who knows what i'll find there, good thing i saved money today....

more progress...
remember the applique piece that i put together to maybe stitch on while on my trip, well i didn't but have been working on it now....stitched the main design i had done, cut off excess fabric, probably crooked, that's okay and added some extras....now ready to stitch more...then back for borders and that in a nutshell is how i work...

a sneak peek...
close your eyes if you are going to June Lake Quilt Camp....this is one of three little log cabin inspired quilt projects that i will be teaching at my sister's retreat....barri's theme is the log cabin block, my personal favorite by the way...just put the borders on this one today, all quilt centers are finished just need borders....
camp is third week in June, so i still have lots of time....i'm always working up to the last minute....

this&that
a close up of Analisa's quilt....a very basic 4 patch, inspired by a quilt i saw at Road to California Quilt Show, which was all squares with applique circles but after finally getting 128 appliqued squares with flowers, princesses, cats, butterflies, cupcakes and other girlie things....i decided to add the pink check squares or grandma wouldn't get it finished in time, quilt patterns are never set in stone, can always make neccesary or creative changes....
i do work on the floor, my eyes/brain sees better this way...another little somewhat odd thing i do is step outside & look at the quilt through the window, i can totally see instantly what my urges are telling me needs changing....
by the way the primitive qiveaway for may is RED....the red background of my blog page must give the picture a purple cast, don't want anyone to be dissapointed when they receive a tea-dyed red quilt....
and Analisa has been called "lisa or lisie" since she was born but being in school they call her "Ananlisa" she has let us all know that is what she would prefer....so hard for grandma sometimes, in fact when all grandkids are together all names get mixed up all the time....my mom has done this for my sister & i for a long time, must be an inherited trait!!!
back to stitching....

Analisa's Quilt...
my grandaughter Analisa's quilt for her upcoming 5th birthday, just needs rows sewn together and border....my goal is to make a quilt for each grandchild's birthday this year, two down, three more to go....then i need to start a larger quilt for my husband to snuggle under, with the small quilts quilts i have laying around he has to one for each body part!!!! and he whines alittle about that....
it's like the cobbler's children have no shoes, mine have no quilts!
