gathering patches......

start cutting 1&1/4" wide strips......

start piecing them into nine patch blocks.....

i'm "cough, cough" "sneeze, sneeze" "sniffle, sniffle" "stitch, stitching" the finishing touches on three little antique quilt inspired primitive quilts, all using nine patch blocks......
yes i do have a bit of a cold and it's taking a little longer to get these done, blowing my nose constantly doesn't help but i am persevering......

so hopefully all will be done and ready for a sew-a-long starting next week......
how many nine patch blocks?
well the first uses five, the second twelve and the third thirty- five, think that adds up to fifty-two......they are all just whatever in color, just that all over scrappy look......

Valentine Quilt......

this is the heart quilt in my post yesterday, it's so very old, taught it as a class project when the dinosaurs were still roaming around!

this is a very simple heart block, using a 1&1/2" square of muslin and a print, plus a 1&1/2" x 2&1/2" print......
i made nine patches using a 2&1/2" muslin alternate square.....
nine patch block finishes at 6"

Happy Valentines Day......

Happy Valentines Day to you and yours.....
made a little chocolate treat for my Thursday Quilt class, easy, not much prep, they smell so chocolaty..... but i would recommend using a cupcake liner as mine are not coming out of the pan easily and i did grease the pans.....we will just have to dig them out tomorrow at class, with all the chocolate i'm sure they will be delicious even though not beautiful......
using break apart chocolate chip cookie dough, smoosh a bar & 1/2 into the bottom of cupcake pan.....
top with an upside down peanut butter cup.....
fill 3/4 full with boxed brownie mix.....
bake at 350' for about 20 to 25 minutes....
Yummmm!!!!

love & enjoy cheri

pajama party......

today i had a pajama party all day, just me and my sewing machine were there and boy did we party!
first off i finished Cooper's quilt top, must admit it has been a bit of a challenge, not block wise but his choice of fabrics.....CraZy! but he is an eight year old boy!
when i took him to the fabric store pick his choices, he is particular, and so i wanted his input, came up with the fish, universe and rock & roll prints..... Oh My!

talked him into adding a few plaids, checks and such..... he only wanted squares, just squares, so this is what i came up with..... now Cooper is a follow the rules, fun boy but likes to stay within the lines, so to speak...... so when Grandma wants dessert before dinner, makes up words for the routine books and likes to change game rules, he gets thrown off, always ends up having fun, but fusses a little..... so i followed the pattern so perfectly and then when ironing the last section,WhOopS! Grandma flipped the blocks on the very last row, gave a thought to fixing it, but no this is imperfect, fun and different just like his Grandma!

also stitched up this small quilt top with the leftover triangles from my Envelope Quilt.....

the triangles started from 4&1/8" squares, cut twice diagonally...... they finish to 2" square.....
red setting triangles are also 4&1/8" squares, cut twice diagonally and 2&3/8" squares, cut once diagonally for the top and lower edges.....
green sashing strips are cut 2&1/2" wide....

worked on other blocks and pieces but am keeping those under wraps till ready for next sew a long......
with Greg out of town on a business trip, i will party on!

in the works......

little primitive basket quilts in the works and i've been inspired by my Emily Munroe Quilt Pattern...... look added couching to the wool flower appliques, of course mine will get the grungy look when done and not be so white, so run out and purchase a "cheap" hank of acrylic yarn so you're ready when new patterns are done......
enjoy your Super Bowl Weekend Festivities, mine will include couching on the couch!
