it's sewing snowballs....

spent my day in my sewing room making snowballs for the winter issue of Primitive Quilts and Other Projects, my sister Barri of Bareroots fame will be in the same issue with a little winter quilt also....a first for us to be published together, looking forward to it....

oh my stars....

there is a great quilt that i believe is on almost every Pintrest quilter's board titled "Oh My Stars".....i pinned it in a couple different color variations, but i kept thinking to myself where have i seen these stars before, didn't i make a quilt like this many years ago, taught it as a class, did some digging and here it is only i did the stars in the scrappy homespuns not the background.....and now someday i'll be making it again with the scrappy background because i love it that way too.....

basket quilt....

started on the appliqued border, of course leaves, always leaves, the black just makes the colors pop, like that....lucy must be brightening me up, in a black sort of way....

a little lucy and baskets....

have been sewing here and there, just got these little basket blocks done for a quilt, to be taught at my sister's quilt retreat coming up in June.....still need to do applique borders, loving the black.....
lucy is growing cuter by the day, 3&1/2 months old now, starting to teeth, everything goes in the mouth.....we are working diligently on a new project for all our blogging friends, need to get a little further ahead before we share.....

finish day.....
cut four 5" squares from your other red....
sew your sawtooth star, flying geese and squares together, following finished quilt photo for placement and you've made a sweet little antique inspired quilt....
now who wants this little quilt to decorate their home?

day four....
using your print and muslin pieces cut yesterday sew together four flying geese, my goose's name is georgia hence the title, from each color....the "unfinished" size of each goose should be approximately 2" x 3 & 1/2" ......
be back tomorrow for the sweet finish and yes we will be using the other red.....

cut one each from your pink, poison green and navy 4 & 1/4" square, cut diagonally twice....
from muslin cut twelve 2 & 3/8" squares, cut diagonally once....
just a cutting day, tomorrow you will sew, see you then.....

you get to make one, just one small red sawtooth star today.....the "unfinished" size of this star should be "approximately" 3 & 1/2"  i remembered this time.....

cut from muslin one 2 & 3/4 "  square, cut diagonally twice and cut four 1 & 1/4"  squares.....
cut from the bright red one 2" square and four 1 & 5/8" squares, cut diagonally once.....
