making a little progress......

making a little progress in the quilting room.....


part of the problem are these nasty clouds bringing lots of humidity..... making me feel neither cheerful or like sewing :(


this construction we are doing is also hampering my progress, don't have air-conditioning in my sewing room (a detached garage) I would normally just bring machine and such in the house but air-conditioner needed to be removed for the new cement area we added......
new air-conditioner coming soon.......I hope!

but on the bright side Lucy makes the cutest Peanut Butter Cup and that puts on smile on Grammy's face :)

sewing pumpkins......

yes i finally started some new quilt projects today, thought i would share with you how i put together blocks that use freezer paper templates......


i trace my design onto the paper side of the freezer paper......


then i cut all the pieces apart on the traced lines.....


next i iron the templates onto the right side of my fabric, leaving space between pieces for seam allowance......i stack my fabrics so there are four layers under each temple......


laying the 1/4" line of the ruler on the paper's edge i cut out all templates with my rotary cutter adding the 1/4" seam allowance on all sides......



i lay the template pieces for the pumpkin block out as it will look, removing the paper before sewing, i start sewing all the pieces together...... save the template pieces as they can be used again for the next stack.....






and before you know it you have made four pumpkin blocks, i'll be making more for a fun Halloween quilt......

steps by step......

step one ~ clean off the dust and cobwebs from sewing room......
step two ~ go through and reorganize all quilt ideas......
step three ~ shop for new fabric.......
step four ~ tea dye fabric from step three......

steps one through three done, step four tomorrow, anxious to hear the hum of my sewing machine again......


looks like i'm in a red and black mood ......
