sewing ahead......

oh my gosh! how the days have flown by since my last post, nothing exciting been happening, just lots of Lucy, some shopping with my mom and daughter days, Little League games, ballet lessons, cheernastics lessons and on and on......finally squeezed a little cutting time in from my scrap basket and i believe some sewing time this weekend, working up a little antique quilt inspired sampler for a fun sew a long...... been away from my sewing machine way to long, starting to twitch!!!

okay now that i've spent a bit of time cutting now need to sweep and scrub my floors, been way to long since i've done any good cleaning either.....then back to the sewing room!

this and that.....

Lucy and big sister Nola sharing some of their culture with cousin Analisa, thanks to PaPa's recent business trip to Japan......

finished and started on another block for my reproduction Emily Munroe Quilt, had a tea party last night with the girls and doodling out the next "sampler" sew a long, inspired by a little antique quilt.......

check out how I still, after all these years have to figure out adding, subtracting, etc. to my fractions.....should be second nature by now but no!

a mother's day gift......

when a sewing day gives you leftover applique pieces, make a new quilt......
and i did...... my mom loves flowers and she loves quilts from me even more, a sweet mother's day gift in the making.....

blocks are 6&1/2" squares.....
border flying geese were made with light 5&1/4" squares, cut diagonally twice and 2&7/8" print squares, cut once diagonally....

do you need a gift for your mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, etc......
i've given you the flower pattern pieces in the post below to print off.....
i may add more borders or may not, going to start stitching down flowers tonight.....

red cross blocks......

i agree with majority going back to look at the quilt later.......way too much, good idea, nice folk art flowers but not for this quilt, guess i have the start of something else using these appliques.....
some did want to see the flowers at the pink points, maybe it's the blue of the flower, maybe the green needs to be more olive but whatever i'm going back to leaving the funky little quilt as is and just enjoying the odd block.....not going to over think it......
i'm a it is or it isn't kind of gal and then move on to the next project.....
thanks for all your great input.....

red cross blocks......

remember this layout with the red cross blocks i made at my Thursday quilt class.....

well i finished more blocks, laid it all out and just not talking to me, tried a couple different layouts, different alternate fabrics......wasn't working for me....then....

this block, made a long time ago for what i don't even remember, laying right under my nose, grabbed it, that's it!

that's where it has sat till today, now thinking of adding this applique, not positive.....pieces not glued down yet......
add the applique or leave it plain......
that's the question......
got an answer for me......

while browsing through quilt books was inspired by this Amish quilt, love the warm feeling.....
cut my 2" squares yesterday and laid them out, using small print calicos instead of solid, more my style.....

am off to pick up Cooper, Analisa, and Sofia for a few days visit with Grammy.....they are on spring break......
