drab or pretty......

are you one that gravitates towards the dark, drab, grungy colors when decorating, sewing and such...... LiKE Me!

or do you seem to collect the pretty, bright, sweet fabrics and such......

well i started by making the darker one, using my usual color choices, made even grungier with some tea staining but with Easter coming, thought i would also stitch one up using Easter Egg colors, quite sweet but not quite me....... so...... if you are more inclined to decorate with the pretty, brighter quilt then maybe i should just give it to you? which you? let me know and also make sure i have an email address to contact you for your home address.....

if you want to stitch one or two up of your own, i simply used 3 & 1/2" squares, sashing pieces 1 & 1/4" x 3 & 1/2", setting squares 1 & 1/4" ........

enjoy tomorrow is the First Day of SprinG!

what a generous gift! I usually like dark colours, especially red, but at this time of year here in England, we are ready for some light bright colours!

Those colors are so perfect for spring decorating! Please count me IN!

How sweet of you! I absolutely love the dark one~not dreary at all. I too always gravitate to those colors & now that I'm getting 'older & bolder', I make no excuses for my taste ;-))) I'd love to have a chance at it. I'm attempting to get back into quilting & I think this would inspire me! Thanks & warm regards, Debi

I love your darker version. I do gravitate to similar tones for my own quilts, but when making samples and gifts I like the opportunity to use something different. I love your blog. Thanks for sharing with us.

I'm into the bright and pretty colours personally but I enjoy seeing what people can do with the darker palates.

I'm an out of the box kink of gal not a traditional one.

It's interesting on how you can change things up with a few colour changes.

I'm a dark and dirty quilter, but that is a very nice piece for Spring decorating. I'd love to give it a good home. : )

tend to be more a muted gal, but I could tea-dye the Easter version!

Love the Easter egg colours. It's always nice to try something outside our comfort zone. I usually tend toward the darker, Civil War fabrics, but this little quilt is so sweet.

I love them both...my grandaughter would probably choose the bright one and i would choose the dark one but they are both made with love. Thanks for sharing your great talent with all of us.

Both quilts are so pretty and look to be quilted very nicely. I might have to just make one for myself. I like brighter colours for Easter and to welcome spring.

I have to say I enjoy both! I use a lot of darker colors but with four little ones you gotta add the color too!

Lesley said...

Cheri, both your little quilts are wonderful! Love the dark...love the bright! I can never quite figure out who I really am! I guess I'm eclectic? Would definitely find a place of honor for your bright quilt...do the candies come with it?

I do love your first one, wanted to do something for easter, but not bright and you found the perfect combination of colors to make a prim easter.

Well, Cheri I just received my little 9 patch quilt today and I LOVE IT, thank you so much, so yes I love the dark colors, but I do have a little granddaughter that loves bright and beautiful quilts, so I could still find it a good home.

Earthy, grungy, dark, muddy, tea stained, coffee stained, those are my favorites, and as my dear friend called it 'dirty'. Yes, I like 'dirty' too. Thanks for the generous giveaway. Blessings and smiles, Emilou :-)

I love your quilts, Cheri. Dark or Bright they are all special. I have to admit I am more prone to the bright but live with my daughter who leans to the dark side. We have it all covered. :) I would be proud to have a Cheri made quilt in my house. I've made a few but not like you. Great giveaway and thanks again for sharing your talent with us.

My favorites are dark colors - tea dyed of course! But, your spring-like colors in the Easter version are pretty eye-candy! You are so creative and inspiring. (I just received my "House Quilt" pattern and can't wait to start stitching one up!) Thanks for the chance to perhaps win!

Drab or bright...both are great!
But for Spring I do tend to put out brighter colors.
I'd love to win your sweet quilt!
Thank you.

I'm a chameleon. I love muted colors, bright colors, dark colors.... It's not helpful, really. Both of your quilts are lovely (but I love the first one better).

I love both the darker and the brighter when it comes to quilting. I love Civil War reproductions, but am liking many of the modern fabrics and quilts, too. I am trying to open myself up to having a bigger range.
I would love your small, brighter quilt!

I would sure love to win your bright quilt! I live in Wisconsin and today is the first day of spring and our temps will struggle to reach 22 degress and we will have below zero wind chills. Could really use a dose of spring!

"dark and grungy" fit my style but when spring rolls around I love tossing in the surprise sparkle of the sweet and unexpected brightness of your choice in Easter Egg colors!

I naturally gravitate to the darks too. If I decide to sew light, I grab the pinks and poison greens. Love that combo. Your light mini is perfect for Easter/spring.

I naturally go for the darker colours but then I slip in some pretties once in a while. This would fit right in my 100 year old house.

I used to like the drab, country primitive colors, but now I am into vintage, 30's vintage to be exact!!! I still love primitive but mostly use colors of the 30's now!! I do love your quilt you made, it would look great in my living room!
