just a few kisses.......

just a few or maybe a lot of kisses for you and those you hold dear......
sharing this sweet prim quilt with you as a token of my love......

I simply made x blocks by sewing 2" strips of muslin and red together as shown, then I cut those into 2" sections......sewing one on each side of a 2" x 5" piece of red......
blocks will finish at 4&1/2"

solid squares were cut 5"
setting side triangles......cut square 7&5/8", cut twice diagonally.....
corners......cut 4&1/8" square, cut once diagonally......

enjoy.....

my sister has gone back home, her son and our mom are with her and I will be driving up to June Lake next week for a week or so......take care

our hearts are heavy......
Ron "Ronnie" Walton was such a wonderful addition to our family when he found his first and last love with my sister Barri.....
all our lives were made richer by having him, his bright shining smile filled a room, his love was boundless.....

stitching love......

have been inspired by Lori at Notforgotten Farm to do some no count, free hand cross stitching......
whipped up a little quilt yesterday morning with a center block for stitching then cross stitched the heart and words in the time it took me to watch Under the Gunn, a Project Runway spin off......
I drew on my heart shape with a Frixion pen by Pilot and started stitching away with three strands of white embroidery floss.....

quilted the little quilt today, sewing on binding tonight, will wash, tea dye and share the finished quilt with you soon.....

you can visit http://farmhousenotforgotten.blogspot.com to see Lori's Crash Course on free hand cross stitching and her primitive patterns, using this technique, which I will be stitching on as soon as I receive them.....

lessons learned......

for the last couple of days I have been under the expert tutelage of Lisa Bongean, yes the Primitive Gatherings very one.......as an instructor, I can tell you, she has a wealth of constructive, helpful, friendly, useful stitching information..... Fun and Nice to boot!
a crazy quilt was our project and I've always wanted to give that a try......her technique was so easy, right up my alley......
Winter Crazy Quilt Table Mat

now being a bit of a darker, more primitive quilter I changed Lisa's design up a bit so my crazy quilt table mat can sit out all year......

so intent was I on learning those crazy quilt stitches I stitched the piece right to my jeans at one point!

one useful and simple tip Lisa gave us I used last night, is to tuck a pillow under our stitching project, less stress on our neck and back, works!

now my crazy quilt design will not become a pattern, as this is already a Primitive Gatherings design.....I just changed the wool colors for the background and used my own applique drawings but I have an idea......
you can purchase Primitive Gatherings Wool Crazy Table Mat pattern from them and Whatnots pattern from me, which has the pieces I used for applique....
now out of two patterns you have three designs......snowman crazy quilt, small quilt and a primitive crazy mat and you could make the little quilt in blues with snowman appliques around......now your have four for the price of two!

now off to clean my house which has not been touched because I was having to much fun learning stuff......
enjoy.......

a quilting day.....

accomplished the quilting of three little quilts for new patterns and the quilting of four very important quilts for Lucy.....when I started making these for Lucy I purposely made them in a variety of fabrics so she wouldn't become attached to just one......well she has become attached to not the fabric choice but the must have ribbon tag......only wants the polka dot one! so I am now making backups.....

and I found the drawings for this Country ABC's quilt which I designed and taught long ago....will be a pattern on the website soon.....

it's a great day when not only do I have fun sewing but also accomplish my desired tasks of the day......
enjoy......
