a little this and that......

had the fun idea to use cardboard boxes for gift wrapping this year, each grandchild and adult child had one, fourteen total......filled boxes, wrapped with colored tape and stickers, stacked, then stood back and pondered "how it the heck are we going to get these all in one vehicle to bring with us Christmas morning!?!".....it did take two!!!! but was totally worth it to see the look on everyone's eyes.......plus it was less waste of paper, trash accumulated, handy carrier for gifts and a an empty cardboard box has lots of creative/useful possibilities.......

made this Blueberry French Toast breakfast dish for Christmas breakfast, one of those make the night before and bake in the morning......totally delicious
get the recipe here...... http://bookcooking.net/showthread.php?tid=4146

knitted up this adorable and so easy scarf for Lucy, she looks so cute......needs more in a variety of colors and other granddaughters want one too!
get the instructions here..... http://littleinspiration.com/2012/10/how-to-knit-a-bow-scarf.html

did a little much needed tiding up in the kitchen and now since i don't need to cook, decorate, wrap, shop (well we do need some food other than sweets eventually) .......i'm heading out to my sewing room, need to finish putting the rows together on my Four Knaves, so it can go to the quilters and i can then vacuum/clean my sewing room.......need to tidy just a little before starting off on new projects......
also had my granny square quilt, made a long, long time ago quilted finally, so i will put the binding on today also.......

enjoy.......

That is a fun way to wrap and surprise everyone. Of course little Lucy is too adorable and I love the granny square, I need to try one of those.

What a clever, "green" idea for your gifts!
Sweet scarf on a sweet baby; alas, I don't know how to knit.
The granny square looks great set against black. You always have good ideas to make your quilts your own. Both quilts are great!

lovely little Lucy, great scarf, I need to learn to knit. I started learning last year, and still am not past basic stitches.

thanks so much for sharing all!

Many years ago I took advantage of after Christmas clearance on holiday fabrics and sewed up dozens of gift bags in a variety of sizes. My family knows the bags come back to me after unwrapping. Love that there isn't all the paper mess or waste, and it is so much quicker to wrap.
I have always loved the Granny Squares block, but I think this one with the black background is my favorite yet! Gorgeous--and I love the one bouquet block. : )

The gift boxes are a wonderful idea! Thank you for the hyperlinks to the recipe and Lucy's scarf. It adds another layer of adorable to your cutie pie. Lovely quilts. I may have to take the granny square plunge in 2013 after seeing yours. And I have 36 churn dashes waiting for a setting like your knaves! Happy holidays, and here's to many finishes in the new year!

Little Lucy is just so sweet, and your Granny quilt is stunning! Great idea with the boxes, but I can see the problem to deliver them, giggle! Looks like a marvelous Christmas!
